This week we are in the studio with Christy Johnson of Be True Image Design. Let’s take a look into this beautiful photography studio tour.
Where is your studio located? Wake Forest, NC
Is your studio commercial or residential? How many square feet? Commercial, 540 sqft
Do you use natural light, studio light or both? Natural light
How long have you been a photographer? How long have you had a studio space? I’ve been an on-location photographer for over 5 years, and just moved into the studio in May 2014.
How did you choose your space? I’m a natural light photographer, so of course the space had to have amazing light. I also wanted to have an area for parents to relax and a children’s area for siblings who are waiting their turn for portraits.
In three words how would you describe the style and feeling your studio evokes? Welcoming, cozy, light
What type of photography do you specialize in? How has your studio helped you grow your business, if is has? I specialize in maternity, newborns, and babies up to one year in studio, as well as children and family sessions outdoors. The studio has helped me to offer a consistent, professional experience for my clients. Also, holding ordering sessions at the studio allows me to provide the best service to my families, ensuring that they aren’t left alone to figure out printing and customizing displays for their images.
What is your favourite thing about your studio space? What makes it special to you? I love that my space feels so much like an extension of my brand and truly of myself. I poured my heart and soul into my studio, and the feedback I have received has been amazing.
How do you keep your props organized and ready to use for sessions? I have a shelving unit in my office where I store all of my blankets, hats, wraps, etc.
Advice or tips for opening a studio? Don’t settle for a space that you aren’t in love with, and make sure everything you buy for your space fits well with your style and brand.
